The Sultanate, represented by the Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs, will join the rest of the world in marking the World Habitat Day every year on October 6. The celebration aims to promote sustainable human settlements development socially and environmentally. It is an occasion to remind everyone that we have to share responsibility to form our cities and countries. The UN marked the world Habitat Day for the first time in 1986.
The celebration reviews the fundamental rights relating to universal access to shelter, as well as remind the world of its collective responsibility for the future of the human habitat. The Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs has been at the cornerstone of the national strategy of biodiversity, including legalizing and implementing legislations to ensure the protection and conservation of natural resources and the preservation of wildlife habitats in the Sultanate. We are therefore required to join efforts made to conserve the natural habitat, as it is the responsibility of everyone on earth.
